Women have A RIGHT to be safe, it’s not a privilege!

Emma Watson at the UN

Last week at the United Nations General Assembly, Emma Watson introduced the thought Provoking HeForShe 2016 Report.   She reminded us once again about the importance of gender equality.

One of the things that really stuck with me was when she said that women deserve to be praised and recognised for their achievements, and she was absolutely right.

One of the most important things she said was that women across the world have a right to be safe and respected in their universities, and this she emphasised was a RIGHT and not a privilege.

Similarly, at Staying Put we believe that all women have the right to be free and safe in their own homes. They should never have to live in fear of violence and abuse.

As an organisation we are solution focused keeping prevention and resilience at the heart of everything we do.  We ensure survivors are never silenced, we listen to them and we respond.

What can we say to any woman who is suffering from any form of abuse? Be inspired by Emma and all the amazing survivors,  safety should never have to be earned. Your home is your sanctuary, and at Staying Put we work tirelessly to keep you safe in your own homes.
